It’s a little scary to think about entering the real world and having to be an “actual adult”. I still have to call my mom just to ask her how long to heat up food in the microwave — how am I suppose to be responsible for myself? Well in the next few weeks I will be graduating from The University of Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in apparel and textiles. I have made some of the most wonderful lifelong friends at this university. I am leaving this beautiful small town with memories that will last me forever. For example, cheering on the greatest football team in the country — ROLL TIDE! College truly is the best four years of your life, and you should never take that time for granted. Unfortunately though, all good things must come to an end.
After my graduation I will be moving to a big city (well it’s big to this small town Alabama girl) to intern for the fabulous retail company fab’rik in Atlanta, Georgia. I will be working as an e-commerce intern and I will be styling photo-shoots, web-inventory management, web content creation, online personal shopping, and much more. I am so excited for this next step in my life! Every time I think about it I get butterflies in my stomach. Like, me? I get to finally fulfill my dream of working in the fashion industry? Somebody pinch me!
So I decided to make my first blog post about this huge milestone in my life so my readers could get to know me a little better. For my graduation pictures I wanted to wear something that expressed my personality and my major that I dedicated the last 4 years of my life to. The greatest thing about this outfit is that all of the pieces are under $30!! I fell in love with this dress the very first second I saw it on ASOS — I mean who wouldn’t? IT HAS RUFFLES! It can be easily dressed up for a cocktail party or perfect for a more casual event like graduation, duh! The way this dress fits on your body makes it easy to move around but yet is still flattering and shows off a little bit of your figure. I can’t help but smile and want to dance around immediately when I put this dress on. ASOS has quickly become one of my favorite places to go for online shopping. They carry such a large variety of brands and have a huge price range. The best part is that they offer 10% off for students (I mean if you needed any reason not to drop out of college and become a stripper, this is it).
For shoes, I decided to opt for something a little more practical for walking around campus or across the graduation stage. I mean let’s face it, super high heels look great but nobody wants to have a Lizzie McGuire moment and fall on stage at graduation. These shoes are perfect to wear to a dressy event because they are very sleek and classy yet they have a low chunky heel so you are comfortable to walk around and dance the night away. They are easily one of my favorites.
I hope that all of you future business women/men of America are excited to enter the “adult world”. We’ve got this! Also, if you have any new and exciting events coming up in your life or need advice on what to wear for your graduation events let me know by commenting below. I would love to hear from y’all!
Cheers to the next big chapter in life!
